Baking a whole chicken it may be occasionally challenging. I also had a number of difficulties while I tested the 1st instances, however I can brag now that I make the perfect baked chicken on earth. More delicious compared to the one at the restaurant!
In order to make this mouth-watering restaurant recipe I simply comply with several these five steps:
STEP 1: Purchase a chicken
Get a decent size chicken and after you unwrap the plastic packaging give it a good wash underneath cold water.
Be sure you also rinse the inside of the chicken!
You can also use a frozen chicken in case you have one inside the fridge freezer.
Tip: I’m not defrosting the chicken in a microwave since it can dry the meat and it will have a completely different taste. Instead, I fill a pot with warm water and sink the frozen chicken in that water. You need to have a large enough pot chicken could be completely below water. In an hour the chicken should be unfroze. After that I’ll give him a very good clean in water (also inside) and let’s proceed to the next stage.
Tip 2: Also I add a couple of teaspoons of salt within the water. It will tender the icy meat.
STEP Two: Seasoning – here comes the fun part!
You can use here only a little bit of salt plus some herbs purchased from a local supermarket, however I like to be innovative. First off I pour some organic olive oil on the whole chicken. You can also use sunflower oil but I like extra virgin olive oil better. After that I use a paper towel and remove the extra essential olive oil. This fashion the spices would adhere better on the chicken's skin surface and the skin surface will also have a better taste and it will be crusty.
For seasoning, the possibilities are limitless!
I put a certain amount of finely ground black pepper, a bit paprika, sea salt and also some fresh herbs: fresh basil leaves, rosemary, dill, thyme and parsley. I use the same mixture of spices as well as for the cavity of the hen. Also I lay a few garlic cloves in the cavity as I adore garlic.
In case you like a little heat you may also test something more exotic like: wasabi or coriander rubbed in the cavity of the chicken before baking it.
Tip: Place a fresh lemon inside the chicken. The flavor of the poultry will be enhanced and also the will be kept moist. I found that from renowned chef Jamie Oliver:-D
STEP three: Bake the chicken
Preheat the oven at 165F (74 Celsius) and take a pan where you place the chicken. Make sure that the pan is big enough so the cooking juices won’t spill within the oven. I use these juices to have a yummy dressing for that baked chicken.
Position the chicken within the oven and change the temperature to 350F (180 Celsius) for 50 minutes. This temperature is dependent upon the chicken dimension. If you have a big chicken it is possible to raise the baking temperature but never break 400F or 205 Celsius because you shall burn the chicken!
Every now and then try out the chicken with a fork, in case the juice is clear it means that the chicken is baked.
Tip: after 35 minutes of baking I take out the pan from the oven and sprinkle several drops of merlot or a few drops brandy on the chicken – not much!(we don’t would like to get drunk :-D ) It'll give him a fantastic taste! After that let the chicken bake in the oven for a 1/4 hour.
Tip 2: I use a little water in the pan and in that water I put 2 or three fresh lemons for the taste improvement
Tip 3: An inside temperature of at the very least 165 F (74 Celsius) is required to destroy the bacteria
STEP 4: The dressing
After you removed the chicken out of oven you can make some dressing! At this point I'll not utilize the sauce from the backed chicken.
As I said, I absolutely adore garlic :-D and I will do a sour cream and garlic dressing. For this I need one cup sour cream (low - fat), 5 garlic cloves (crushed), 1/2 tablespoon oregano, a pinch of black pepper along with a spoon of lemon juice. Combine those together and after you have a fine mixture pour a tablespoon of milk just to help it become creamier.
STEP five: Baked chicken – serving choices:
Even though chicken can be eaten very well just like this, you can add some taste to it if you add a garnish. Here the possibilities are endless. I love mine having sweet potatoes "nature" with butter as well as some parsley.
